Houston, TX, April 14, 2020- U.S. Legal Support, Inc. is proud to partner with the newly formed San Francisco-based SAVING FACE group to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of face shields to local doctors, nurses and other frontline workers who are battling COVID-19.
Earlier this month, U.S. Legal Support was approached by its client, Steven McDonald, Esq., of Beldsoe, Diestel, Treppa & Crane LLP for donations to the group, SAVING FACE. In response to the growing demand for PPEs for frontline workers, McDonald and his friends, including San Francisco General Contractor Cy Lo and friend Dee-Dee Sberlo started collecting materials from local businesses to manufacture reusable face shields. It’s a good thing that deposition transcript covers have multiple uses.
To date, U.S. Legal Support has donated over 3,000 transcript covers which are being used as the clear protective barrier for the face shields. SAVING FACE has already built and distributed hundreds of face shields and is ramping up to manufacture upwards of 1,000 face shields per week.
“I’m a commercial litigation attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area. My friend Cy Lo reached out to me and others when he learned local healthcare organizations were scrambling for personal protection equipment,” said Steven McDonald, Esq. “When I realized the shields called for a piece of clear plastic film that is the same size as the covers for deposition transcripts we receive in my law office, I reached out to reporters and friends in the legal community for help getting our hands on as many covers as possible. Next thing I knew, I was receiving emails from U.S. Legal Support offices all over the country offering to help and asking for my address so they could send covers!”
SAVING FACE founder Cy Lo, explained, “I am so proud to be able to help our medical community. Friends and associates from all aspects of my life have come together to help and support each other in any way we can, that’s our responsibility as a decent human being. I feel great about the SAVING FACE project and cannot wait to help more frontline workers.”
“We are thrilled to be able to help,” added Charles Schugart, U.S. Legal Support Chief Executive Officer. “These critical supplies will support medical professionals and healthcare workers as the country responds to COVID-19. We are in this together and will continue to support the SAVING FACE group, as well as others like it, for as long as it takes to battle this global pandemic. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation to those on the frontlines and our indebted to their sacrifices ensuring the health and safety of all of us.”
The SAVING FACE GoFundMe page uses 100% of the donations raised to purchase additional materials to make the face shields.
